The Four Elements
The four elements, fire, water, air and earth, are linked to the four suits and give each its character.
Wands are linked to fire (energy and action), Cups to water (feeling), Swords to air (thought) and Pentacles to earth (the material world).
Some traditions swap a couple of these around, so it is worth knowing which your deck follows.
Looking at which element dominates a reading shows where the energy is gathering.
