The Fairy Eyes Spread was originally created for use with the Fairy Tarot. This reading draws its inspiration from the mythical creatures that gave rise to the deck, namely the fairies themselves.

The aim of the Spread is to try to see life from a point of view that is filled with optimism, joy and wonder. In other words, it allows Querents and Readers to examine their own world with the innocence of a child.

The Fairy Vision

When using the Fairy Eyes Spread it is important for the Reader to carefully explain the mythology of the enchanted world of the fairies and the purpose of the reading to the Querent. No other mythical being is able to live in the midst of reality like fairies do, because they are rational and able to grasp the essence of things, people and the world through their instincts and intuition.

This is not a simplistic view, but rather a way of seeing beauty despite the complexity and apparent contradictions of life. This vision, even if a person only manages to capture a small part of it, allows one to discover the strength in vulnerability, mercy in sorrow and the rebirth that accompanies every ending.

The Structure of the Spread

Contrary to what the name of the Spread suggests, fairies do not perceive reality exclusively through their eyes, but rather by using all their senses and every aspect of their being, starting with their heart.

The full deck should be shuffled in the normal way. The Reader should then draw six cards and lay them out in a spiral that starts with card 1 in the centre and gradually widens outwards, finishing with card 6.

Reading and Interpretation

The Reader turns over one card at a time and then interprets each, taking into account the position that they are in. First of all, the Reader interprets the cross in the middle which represents the heart of the problem. They will then consider the angel wings, which branch off fromt the cross. Once the Reader has finished interpreting the meanings of all the cards, they summarise the entire reading in a spoken report, known as the Synthesis.

  • Card 1 - Centre

This card shows a person's core - their inner self and magical essence. In other words, it signifies the source of everything that exists in an individual's being.

  • Card 2 - Heart

Representing how done gives and receives love, this card stands for the things that most influence someone's heart and what is the essence of that heart.

  • Card 3 - Mind

This card symbolises the the way in which a person reasons and thinks rationally, as well as the thoughts that are the source of their interests and inspirations.

  • Card 4 - Eyes

Indicates the Querent's point of view or the filter through which they see themselves, the world and others.

  • Card 5 - Hands

This card represents what a person achieves in life, what they create and give to others.

  • Card 6 - Feet

Symbolises the journey that is undertaken in search of a person's goals. It also stands for how someone fulfils their experience."This is a new way of looking at the problem."

Summary

It is essential that there is no bias

when assessing whether one of the SPread's positions in the spiral is more than important than the others. For example, both the Reader and Querent should be aware that the 'heart' is not necessarily more important than the 'feet' and vice versa.

As the reading progresses, it may happen that one of the cards in the spread is revealed at an intuitive level to be more important than the others. The Reader must recognise and highlight this when presenting the synthesis, always following their intuition. They must then adjust the interpretation of the other Arcana in the spiral accordingly.

It is important to bear in mind that the essential aspect of this Spread is to preserve the spontaneity and the naturalness of the interpretation.

Before moving on to the Synthesis, the Reader should reflect on their role in undertaking this Spread. They have probably chosen the Angelic Wisdom Spread because they have sensed that the Querent is in a difficult and complicated place that is causing them a lot of distress. Faced with these feelings, a Reader has to be realistic and bear in mind that it will be almost impossible to come up with a solution that solves all the Querent's problems.

The Fairy Tarot is used in this example reading. Sandra, a young woman in her 30s, has a good job and a stable relationship. The Feet

Three of Acorns (Three of Wands)

Keywords: Wait, Observation, Attention, Anticipation, Patience, Business

Sandra's path is characterised by constant hard work and always searching for a new lesson to learn or the next task to be completed.

Synthesis

The Reader involves Sandra as much as possible in the interpretation. During the reading, the Reader's intuition highlights the importance of the Ten of Wands and the meaning of this card ends up influencing the others.

Sandra's reading begins in a highly positive manner with the cards drawn emphasiing several aspects of her life and personality that she can be proud of - a strong sense of identity (Nine of Pentacles), a generous heart (the Sylph - or Temperance) and a brave and sharp mind (The Hermit).

However, as her inner self slowly reveals itself, things start to deteriorate and everything seems to depend of the Ten of Wands. This suggests that her habit of always assessing opportunities carefully and conscientiously is a good one, but letting this aspect of her personality get the upper hand is not. This way of acting means that Sandra is overly cautious (Two of Swords) and diligent (Three of Wands) in her actions.
