What the Card Says
This is what Judgement would communicate to you if he were able to express himself in words:
"I am the sign that your life has changed, you are transforming, there is no going back now. The road has crumbled behind you. Embrace me even if I feel uncomfortable. Change often invokes vulnerability. Heeding my call, you rise to new heights, do not look down and have no fear. You are safe, you are brilliant, you are reborn."
Description
The imagery of the Judgement card remains remarkably similar through out all of the older Tarot decks.
Visconti-Sforza The Visconti deck offers a card called 'the Angel' rather than Judgement. It represents the angel of the Last Judgement, from which the typical Tarot name is derived. God oversees two trumpeting angels while the dead rise from their graves.
Marseille The Marseille and Radiant Wise Spirit images show a single winged angel emerging from a cloud of shining light, sounding a trumpet from which flies a banner with a red cross. On earth, naked men, women and children rise from their tombs.
Pictorial Key In the card, an entire family rises to greet the angel. They are suspended in mist and look upwards towards the light of Heaven.

The angel awakens the souls of the last judgement and separates the righteous from the unrighteous. The wait is over, it is time to reap what was sown.
Judgement is the awakening of consciousness. It reflects the soul of a person who has responded to a call issued from a higher order. Judgement explicitly references the Christian Last Judgement, in which the angel of God announces the world has come to an end. The righteous will separate from the unjust. Sorting time is at hand. This is a simple metaphor to apply to our lives through the allegory of metamorphosis or being born again via transformation.
This card sometimes indicates a messenger. The most important element is its finality. As the second to last card, this last call reflects all things reaching their conclusion. Resolution, either good or bad is here and now. This Arcanum is the end of waiting, the arrival of a reward and a door opening to a different world - a world, whose fabric and tapestry is elaborate, and complicated, but richer. Transformation is inevitable.
